Sun Workshop 5.0 is Now Available Under Site-Wide License

The much-anticipated new Sun Workshop 5.0 integrated development environment, which includes Sun Visual Workshop 5.0 and Sun Performance Workshop Fortran 5.0, is now available to the LBNL user community.

Sun Workshop 5.0 is available via the Modules Package on the LBNL central server, ux8.lbl.gov, and on systems mounting our Software Farm Server via NFS (Network File System). Users wishing to access this software can do a "module load lang/5.0" to set up their user environment for Sun Workshop 5.0.

LBNL provides for an unlimited site license for Sun Workshop 5.0 under an educational ScholarPak licensing agreement. Users that manage their own systems and do not have access to the LBNL Software Farm Server can sign out the Sun Workshop 5.0 media to install the software on their own systems. Contact Gary Jung of the CIS UNIX Group at x4894 for further details.

This version of the Sun Workshop offers full support for 32-bit and 64-bit development environments and allows users to develop applications that can take full advantage of the latest 64-bit UltraSPARC hardware and Solaris 7 operating system environment. Sun WorkShop 5.0 supports versions 2.5.1, 2.6 and 7 of the Solaris operating environment software. Solaris 7 is required for 64-bit support.
