Have a Computer Security Question? Contact Your Division Liaison First

Berkeley Lab has been revamping and broadening its computer protection program for the past year. A key part of this program has been the reinvigoration of the Computer and Communications Security Committee, made up of representatives from all Lab divisions and major organizations. If employees have questions or problems concerning computer security, they should first contact their organization's liaison to the committee. View a list of liaisons by organization.

Jim Rothfuss, the Lab's Computer Protection Program manager, said the network of liaisons has been strengthened for a number of reasons. First, the group acts as a direct link to each organization for spreading news about security incidents and issues and as a resource for answering questions from employees. Second, the organization pushes some decisions to the "local" level, so that a division's specific requirements and situation can be adequately addressed. Lastly, by having access to the latest information, the liaisons are well positioned to hear of employees' issues and problems and bring them to the attention of the Lab-wide program.
