New Web Pages Offer User Support for Netscape Calendar 4.51

With the recent introduction of Netscape Communicator 4.51, a variety of improved software tools are now available to speed communications around the Lab.

Netscape Calendar provides a convenient means to catalog and manage appointments and meetings. The new version of Calendar has been given both a tune-up and a facelift; it offers more utilities and an updated interface similar to Netscape Messenger.

According to Curtis McDonald, the Lab's Netscape Calendar Master, "It's a major step from the 4.x versions to the 4.5x versions of Calendar," especially in terms of the revamped interface. Key new features include the ability to change single occurrence entries into recurring entries, a significantly improved Palm Pilot-PC synchronization capability, and increased similarity between PC and Macintosh versions of the software.

To help users of Netscape 4.51's new Calendar utility get up to speed on the new capabilities, McDonald has created a collection of web pages to outline its new features and interface. These pages can be reached through the Lab's Netscape Calendar 4.51: New Features page.

The new web pages offer insight on several Calendar topics:
  • Preferences: This page helps users tweak Calendar's interface and customize how they view windows.
  • User Access Rights: This page describes how a user can configure Calendar so that other users can view his/her schedule.
  • Palm Pilot-PC synchronization: This page covers Calendar's ability to synchronize scheduling information with a Palm Pilot PDA.
  • Groups: This page offers tips on how to efficiently manage group schedules with Calendar.
  • Printing: This page describes Calendar's flexible printing capabilities.
