New Netscape Calendar is More Reliable, Easier To Use

Although it boasts a number of new features, the new version of Netscape Calendar should look familiar to Lab users of the IMAP4 email system. The new Calendar version has the same overall look and feel of Netscape Messenger email, according to Curtis McDonald, the Lab's Netscape Calendar Master.

The new Calendar is part of the suite of new and improved communications applications being rolled out the week of April 26 (PC versions will be available on Monday, April 26, with Mac versions to follow a few days later).

Unlike past versions, the PC and Mac clients for the new Calendar will look very similar.

The new Calendar offers three key new features:
  • For people who schedule meetings which occur frequently, repeating meetings is easier. A single-occurrence entry can now be changed into a repeating entry.
  • The Netscape Calendar synchronization to the 3Com Palm (Pilot) III is now built into the Netscape Communicator Suite. In the past, a separate software patch was needed to transfer information.
  • The Netscape Calendar 4.51 Mac and PC client interfaces are very similar. Here's what the new interface looks like.
All current information scheduled on Calendar will remain, as only the "client" (what you seen on your screen) is being changed. The servers on which the information is stored aren't affect by the changes. Go here to learn more about the new Calendar version.

For assistance with the new Calendar, call the Computer Support Help Desk at X4357.
