BLEV: Berkeley Lab Educational Visits
Program Description
Berkeley Lab Educational Visits usually include:
- one-to-two hour programs
- a general introduction to the Lab
- an appropriate hands-on activity
- a facility tour linked to subject matter
- program aligned to the California State Science Standards.
Audience
- Students in grades 6-12 in the greater Bay Area
- Target audiences are public schools from the Berkeley, Oakland and West Contra Costa districts
- One adult chaperone required for each eight students
- Class or group size limited to 32 students
Key Dates
- requests accepted: 1-Sept-2009
- Visits begin: 1-Oct-2010
- Visits end: 31-May-2010
Requesting a Visit
- Visits available from October through May
- Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
- Visits are cost-free
Preparation/
Expectations
- Review the packet of information including:
- science content ideas for preparing students for the visit
- safety regulations for students and adults during the visit
- post-visit activities
- After your visit, complete the provided student and teacher evaluation forms and send to CSEE
