If you were enrolled in the Vision Service Plan (VSP) as an employee, you and your eligible family members may continue coverage on a voluntary basis, with premiums fully paid by you if:
- You were enrolled when you left UC employment
- Your retirement date is within 120 days of your separation from employment; and
- Your coverage is continuous until the date your retirement income begins.
Enrollment and premiums will not be handled through the University's retirement application or pension deduction. The University has contracted with VSP to provide all administrative services. VSP will be using a company called AdminAmerica to handle enrollment and billing. You pay the full premium and make arrangements directly through AdminAmerica for premium payments.
Your Benefits Office or department should provide you with a Retiree Vision Enrollment Packet during the retirement counseling process.

In conjunction with the EX-Ls Retirees Association, the U. C. Berkeley School of Optometry is offering LBNL retirees a discount plan for vision care. The 20/20 Vision Plan was developed especially for former campus and U. C. employees who no longer have access to vision care through other U.C. plan coverage.
Vision issues become even more important as we grow older. The School of Optometry provides access to the full range of vision care at the Meredith W. Morgan University Eye Center on the Berkeley Campus.
The 20/20 Vision Plan is easy to understand and use. A patient need only show a Retiree ID card. Cardholders may also designate a co-beneficiary to the University Eye Center who is also eligible under this plan. Appointments are made by phone at 510-642-2020. Be sure to identify yourself as a 20/20 Vision Plan member.
Benefits Include:
A Comprehensive Vision Examination for a maximum out-of-pocket cost of $39.00.
A 20% discount on any other vision service received from the University Eye Center.
A 20% discount on any ophthalmic materials (such as spectacles, contact lenses or low vision devices) received from the University Eye Center.
A complimentary "Cal" eyeglass case when spectacles are dispensed.
Free parking for patients at the Kleberger parking lot (next to Memorial Stadium) and a free shuttle ride to the eye center in Minor Hall from the lot.
Where applicable, insurance will be billed first.
Located in modern facilities at Minor Hall and the Tang Center with state-of-the-art equipment, the number-one-ranked School of Optometry celebrated its 75th anniversary recently. Call 510-642-2020 for additional information about the School or the Plan.
