Once you have retired and taken care of any residual matters through LBNL's Human Resources Department, your point of contact should be either PERS in Sacramento or UC Benefits in Oakland, depending on the system you retired under. The LBNL office does not get involved any more.
For PERS questions call 1-800-352-2238. (For health plan questions call UC since these benefits flow from UC, not PERS.)
For UC questions call 1-800-888-8267 for the UC Employees Benefits Plan Administration (UCbencom). You can speak to a live person, Monday through Friday, 9AM - 4PM. By calling and obtaining a Personal Identification Number (PIN) you can request changes in your investments allocation over the telephone. The number also gets you personalized assistance on health and other insurance programs, and on retirement pay issues.
At any hour, you can call for automated information retrieval on your 403b and 401a accounts, have the information faxed to you, get performance data on the various investment options as of the end of the previous month, and much more. The UC Fund Transfer Line number is 1-800-933-0306.
The UC Office of the President maintains a website at http://atyourservice.ucop.edu that is full of valuable data and up to the minute information affecting your benefits.
