Timeline

2012-13:  Berkeley Lab and UC Berkeley work jointly on a Long Range Development Plan and on environmental review and planning. Goal is to complete this phase by the beginning of 2014.

2014:  Design underway and site preparation begins

2015-16: Construction occurs

2017-2018: Complete construction and occupy buildings

2019 and beyond: Future phases of development

Initial occupancy would begin following the first phase of development to integrate programs associated with energy, environment and health at the site. Lab leaders see great potential for scientific gains that would occur at this site when scattered biosciences facilities are integrated in one location. Future phases of development would occur over coming decades as other research is located at the site.
