Computational Scientist Postdoctoral Fellow (21289) for the Computational Research Division. This position is supported by the Helios project (http://pbd.lbl.gov/energy/) at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. The successful candidate will study the electronic structure and optical properties of nanosystems and inorganic/organic composite systems. The physical problems include the electron/hole localizations, exciton and charge transport in nanosystems, exciton dissociation, semiconductor/metal nanocontacts, nano surface and interface atomic structures. The incumbent will use a variety of large scale ab initio computational tools to study the above problems.

Computer Systems Engineer (21613) for the Computational Research Division. The LBNL Future Technologies Group (FTG) does research in high-performance computing (HPC) technology for petascale systems, including work in compilers, operating systems, runtime systems, performance analysis and modeling, benchmarking and performance engineering of scientific application programs.

Energy Sciences Network (ESnet) Department Head (21495) for the Computational Research Division. The Energy Sciences Network, ESnet, is the international high performance networking facility of the DOE Office of Science. ESnet's mission is to enable those aspects of the DOE Office of Science mission that rely on high performance networking for success. ESnet is managed and operated by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). LBNL is seeking a leader with demonstrated technical excellence and an international reputation for the position of ESnet Department Head.

Help Desk Specialist (21584) for the Information Technology Division. As a member of the Information Technology User Support Department's Help Desk, provide assistance to employees at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory by phone and/or the use of remote desktop management software. Process requests for help that come in through electronic mail, web or phone.

High Performance Computing Scientific User Services Engineer (21194) for the Information Technology Division. As a member of the UNIX and Cluster Computing Group, provide user services and application assistance for scientific research users using Linux clusters. Implement and manage job resource management, scheduler, and user allocation software.

Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator (21200) for the Information Technology Division. Responsible for day-to-day management of the SumTotal Learning Management System.

Network Systems Engineer (21502) for the Information Technology Division. Working for the LBLnet Services Group, the Network Systems Engineer performs tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and design of LBNL's Local Area Network (LAN). Assignments include network troubleshooting, client consulting, failure analysis, documentation, network systems development, as well as testing of systems and components.

Postdoctoral Researcher (21205) for the Computational Research Division. As a member of the Scientific Data Management Group, the Postdoctoral Researcher will work on research, simulation and implementation of energy-smart disk based mass storage technology. Analysis of disk access workloads in data centers, modeling and simulation of disk storage systems. Development of algorithms to optimize energy usage in large data centers.

Science and Technology Writer/Editor (21733) The Berkeley Lab Computing Sciences Directorate is seeking a full-time communications specialist to develop and carry out a range of communications projects for various audiences.

Scientific Computing Consultant (21609) for the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC). Responsible for providing a broad spectrum of expert and courteous consulting services to users of the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center.

2008 Summer Student Program (21326) For students majoring in Computational Sciences, Computer Science, Mathematics and related science and engineering fields, Berkeley Lab Computing Sciences hosts a 12-week research summer program that provides students with the opportunity to gain research experience.

Unix Systems Administrator (21635) for the Computational Research Division. As a member of ESnet’s Infrastructure Group, this position will be responsible for managing, configuring and testing hardware and OS installations of all ESnet UNIX office and server machines with a special emphasis on the UNIX systems that are deployed at remote sites in support of ESnet's production wide area network (WAN).  The UNIX Systems Administrator will work closely with customers to define, develop, and implement enhancements.

Web Services Engineer (21614) for the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC). Primary responsibility is to manage the software infrastructure needed to support the NERSC website, www.nersc.gov, other websites hosted by NERSC, and wiki websites. Be responsible for content management and coordinating the overall design of these websites.
