Institutional Services Per RPM 9.01

Institutional Services are those services designated by the CIO as requiring either provision by institutional provider, or permission of the institutional provider or its designee.

Wireless Internet Provision	Installation of wireless network infrastrucutre (providing wireless access to others) is prohibited, except by IT Division staff or designee.	IT-Infrastructure Contact: lblnet@lbl.gov
Networking Hardware	Installation of switches, wiring, etc.	IT-Infrastructure Contact: lblnet@lbl.gov
Applications containing Personally Identifiable Information	Any application containing personally identifiable protected information as defined here	IT-Institutional Systems for business applications. IT-Cyber Security for other applications.
Public address systems, radio communication, wired intercoms, and alarms.	All systems related to physical security and life safety communication, and spectrum management.	Facilities-Communications
Monitoring which requires permission (as defined in 9.01)	Monitoring of communications, beyond those typically required of normal system administration	CIO itpolicy@lbl.gov
Email Servers Exposed to Internet	All email servers with exposure to the internet must be approved.	IT-Cyber Security cppm@lbl.gov
Security certificates (SSL) signed, for systems in the lbl.gov namespace.	SSL certificates are purchased centrally so that they can be tracked.	IT-Licenses licenses@lbl.gov
