Division Resources

The following information on workshops and coaches are resources for Division Business Managers and Human Resources staff. If you are not a Division Business Manager or HR staff member and would like to recommend that your division offer a particular workshop or you are a manager and would like consideration for a 1-on-1 coach, please contact your supervisor or HR Division Partner.

Workshops

The following workshops are no longer offered by BLI. However, Divisions may coordinate with the external instructor to have them delivered locally. Links to more detailed descriptions of each workshop can help you assess if it fits Division needs.

The following vendors can deliver customized courses for your division needs.

Workshop Coordination

For your reference, the following is the scope of work required to arrange the delivery of a workshop:

  • Budget approval - All workshops listed require division management approval for budget for all associated costs.
  • Instructor contact – Instructor should be contacted to ensure particular workshop fits Division needs (instructor contact information is located in link to workshop description)
  • Procurement of contract - Once scope of the assignment has been determined and division management has approved the budget, the division representative who handles contract initiation with Procurement needs to secure the purchase order and contract.
  • Instructor delivery and coordination details – A Division representative needs to confirm details and needs with instructor, including laptop, projector and flip chart needs, copy of materials, gate and barricade parking, etc.
  • Promotion of workshop – Division management and workshop coordinators need to determine promotion and tracking of participants for attendance and credit.

Coaches

Coaches are sometimes provided for executives and managers for a variety of reasons particularly during times of transition and difficult challenges. To assist executives and managers in identifying a coach, the following is a list of external coaches that BLI recommended in the past and who received good feedback. Note coaches specialize in supporting certain levels of manager, and sometimes specific leadership competencies or needs.

  • Coach contact – Coach should be contacted to ensure particular expertise fits manager’s needs and the coach is available (coach expertise and contact information are located in matrix above).
    • Manager should then interview coach (preferably two or three) to select the coach that s/he is most comfortable with.
  • Procurement of contract - Once scope of coaching assignment with identified coach has been determined and division management has approved the budget, the division representative who handles contract initiation with Procurement needs to secure the purchase order and contract.
  • Coach coordination – A Division representative or the manager receiving the coaching needs to confirm the coach’s details and needs, including gate and barricade parking, terms for engagement – how often will coach report status to coachee’s manager (if at all), etc.

Coaches are typically not provided to supervisors.   There are a number of external programs and workshops that are more useful and appropriate.  See Employee Resources – Senior Leaders and Supervisors section.
